RISE OF THE
MEDICINE MAN

All you need to know about the profession of  a Shaman
By Bhavnoor Minocha Apr 26, 2017

Humans are a form of creation evolved over a time period of millions of years. It’s a natural phenomenon that many may come and many may go, yet the soul remains. All that we are today is because of how our soul is which we call as inner beauty. Besides the physical appearance, we do have a spirit which distinguishes us from the crowd. So do our souls evaporate once we die?

Shaman is a mediator which connects the humans with the spirits out there. It helps the living to communicate with the dead. A person having access to the world of good and evil spirits, enters trance during ritual and practices divination and healing. These are magico- religious practices and many people out there are opting to learn this tradition called Shamanism.

The repeated sound of drums with a rhythmic pattern, in a small room as the shaman dressed in feathery uniform goes into trance. The others present, close their eyes following the same tune as the shaman forms the journey for them to enter a world parallel reality finding solutions to their unanswered questions.

It might sound eerie to a few, but it has worked wonders on people. The fact that not many are aware of it is just a myth now. Instead they are opting this as a part of their daily routine now. Almost all the religious across the world have shamanic roots, only the execution has changed. After discovering the results, more and more people have started engaging themselves to this therapy. From doctors, students, businessmen, housewives and even army men have gave us their jobs to become the “spiritual mentors” to gather knowledge and heal others.

A well known shamanic, Cosima Klinger-Paul, moved to India in the year 2000 and has been practicing this tradition ever since. Surprisingly he is not shocked with the level of interest he pertains in this claiming it’s the oldest healing method. Over the past 17 years he has even opened a school of his own where he imparts this knowledge to others. Another example is Gurpreet Singh who left his successful corporate job to practice Shamanism. His zeal of coming out of this web of life was much greater than any monetary satisfaction.

Their working style is based on the belief that every illness has a spiritual cause, which affects the whole body. Once you find that spiritual power, the body heals itself. Rather than belief its more of a religion. A religion which heals what doctors can’t, calling it more a miracle than medicine. Though its more of a placebo effect than the shamanism at work. Shamans claim that there are very few facts to prove the healing of this therapy. The success of it is only based on the testimonials of those who have benefitted from it.

For those who have undergone such experiences take it as miracle cures, yet its all about the soul and belief. No practice can just erase diseases or problems. Human body is way too complex to undergo such miracle. It takes time to get familiar with this technique, its an adventure of the mind. With the rise of shamanism, we hope that more and more get familiar to this concept. People will hopefully heed to this concept of connecting to a different world.
